Homemade candy boxes, are by far one of my favorite things to make, not only are they super quick and easy to put together, but they are also super easy to personalize and can easily adapted to fit any occasion! Besides, who wouldn’t love getting a homemade candy box?
I’m not exactly sure what sent me down this road, or what exactly brought on the idea of making a candy-filled gift box, but needless to say, I’m glad something did. Not only do these make the perfect gift, but they are great for every occasion from Valentine’s Day to Christmas, from birthdays to Mother’s Day. They also make great party favors. They are great for bringing to movie nights, and parties, or simply stashing in the cupboard for your own personal use!
The possibilities truly are endless with these candy boxes, and I think that might just be the best part. Not only are they beyond easy to make, but they are also super easy to personalize, you can make a box inspired by someone’s birthday theme, their favorite color, or even their favorite movie or TV show!
The fun tutorials below are for a quick and easy homemade Valentine’s Day candy box. And one I made for my little brother based on his favorite TV show Psych, featuring candies they ate throughout the series! But you can easily adjust them to fit any occasion!
Easy Homemade Candy Boxes
Supplies
- Boxes. I used these cupcake boxes I found on Amazon. But you can use any box you like, paper boxes, plastic boxes, small boxes, large boxes, or even an explosion box! You can also make yours extra special by using boxes with different shapes and different colors!
- Decorations(if desired), such as decorative paper to fill in the box, Ribble or string to tie a bow or personalized gift tags!
Candy
Below I’ve linked the candy I used. But you can use any kind of candy you like, most of the candies used for these treat boxes can be found at the grocery store, or ordered online. You can also use your own homemade chocolates, candies, and marshmallows for these candy boxes!
Valentine’s Candy Box
- 1 box with lid
- Raspberry Lips
- Strawberry Pie
- Sweet Hearts
- Sour Shrimp
- Valentine’s day themed Hershey’s kisses
- cherry pull-apart licorice
Psych Candy Box
- 1 box with lid
- pineapple crush and buttered popcorn jelly beans
- NECCO wafers
- skittles
- licorice pastels
- sour pineapples
- salt water taffy
Directions
Assemble your boxes if needed. If you are using the same ones I used here, I highly recommend watching the tutorial!
Fill each compartment of the box with a different candy. Be sure to pull out any broken, crushed, or melted candies. I like to arrange mine so the shapes are upright, but can arrange your boxes however you like!
Carefully place the lid/cover on the box. You can add some ribbon or string to help ensure the box stays closed if you like. Or try using some double-sided tape on the bottom or side of the box, to help keep the cover secure.
If using, add a gift tag, or small note listing the candies the box contains.
Enjoy!
Notes
Feel free to use any kind of candies you like for your gift boxes. Just to be sure to take the weather and strange into account if you plan on traveling with them! For example, if you are going to be somewhere warm I would stare clear of chocolates and other candies that melt easily!
If you are looking to make this homemade gift a little extra special, slip a gift card into the box along with the candies, or gift your candy box along with a favorite movie or book!
If you are having trouble finding boxes to use or don’t feel like ordering a bunch, be sure to check out your local dollar tree. Or places like the Target dollar spot or the holiday department of your local stores!
