How to Make Homemade Graham Cracker Pie Crust
Ingredients
- graham cracker crumbs, roughly 2 packages of whole graham crackers. You can use any brand of graham crackers you like. You can even use chocolate graham crackers to create a chocolate pie crust!
- granulated sugar
- unsalted butter, melted
- sea salt
Directions
You can crush your graham crackers in a food processor. Or you can place the sheets of graham crackers in a large freezer bag and crush them with a rolling pin until they are fine crumbs.
Place the graham cracker crumbs in a medium bowl, add the sugar and salt, and mix well.
Pour the melted butter over the crumb mixture, and using your hands, gently mix until the crumbs are completely soaked in butter and the mixture holds its shape if pressed together.
Sprinkle the graham cracker mixture, as evenly as possible, then press it firmly onto the bottom and sides of a pie dish or a springform pan.
Place the finished crust in the fridge until ready to use. Use for any no bake dessert or pie recipe that calls for a graham cracker crust!
Recipe Notes
You can make this crust up to 2 days in advance! Once you have pressed the crust mixture in your pie pan wrap it tightly with plastic wrap and place in the fridge until you are ready to use.
If your crust mixture is too buttery, try to add an additional 1/4 cup of graham cracker crumbs. On the flip side if your crust is too dry, add 1-2 tbsp of extra melted butter, and work from there.
To make this recipe less messy you can wear kitchen-grade gloves while mixing and pressing the crust!
You can also make this recipe in a square pan or tart pan.
