I’m not really sure whether this recipe is supposed to be a fall or winter drink, I tried my first brown sugar latte when one of our local coffee shops featured it as part of their fall latte menu.

But personally, I felt it was more of a winter latte, yet as soon as the air started turning chilly this year, I found myself craving this easy latte!

Anyway, I’m still not quite sure what season this latte belongs in, but I am sure that it is creamy, perfectly rich, and super easy to make.

This easy recipe is basically a white chocolate mocha but with an added depth of flavor from the brown sugar. With just the right amount of sweetness and a great flavor, this homemade latte recipe is sure to be a hit!

It’s perfect for cold weather, and not only does it taste better, but it’s also a whole lot cheaper than any brown sugar lattes you’ll find at a coffee shop!

And don’t worry you don’t need to own an espresso machine to make delicious lattes at home, in the recipe below I’ll share how I make ‘espresso’ without a machine, though of course, you can also use strong black coffee. And if you do own an espresso machine by all means use it!

How to Make a Brown Sugar White Chocolate Latte

Ingredients

  • whole milk, you can also use skim milk, 1%, 2%, or even your favorite non-dairy milk!
  • heavy cream, or more milk
  • white chocolate chips, you can also use white chocolate chunks or a roughly chopped bar of white chocolate. Just be sure to use good-quality chocolate!
  • brown sugar
  •  strong brewed coffee, OR 2 shots of espresso OR 3 tbsps water + 1 tbsp instant coffee(to create homemade instant espresso)
  • whipped cream, for serving. Optional

Directions

In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, heat the milk and heavy cream until small bubbles form around the edges, stirring often to ensure that the milk doesn’t scald.

While the milk mixture is heating prepare your coffee/espresso of choice. Make sure your coffee is very hot so it doesn’t get cold while you are finishing the milk.

Once the milk mixture is hot and steaming, remove the pan from the heat. Add the white chocolate chips, and brown sugar, then whisk until the chips are completely melted and the brown sugar is dissolved.

Pour your prepared coffee, or espresso shots into a mug, and pour the white chocolate milk over it. Stir gently with a spoon to combine. Top with whipped cream if using, and serve immediately.

Enjoy!

Recipe Notes

If you prefer you can also use white chocolate sauce or syrup instead of the white chocolate chips in this recipe!

This latte can also easily be made into an iced latte! To do so fill a large glass all the way up with ice, pour in a splash of milk, followed by your coffee/espresso, then fill the glass the rest of the way up with your prepared white chocolate milk. Stir and enjoy!

Here is my easy homemade whipped cream recipe! Combine 1 cup heavy cream, 2 tbsp powdered sugar, and 3 tsp vanilla extract in a large bowl. Beat using an electric mixer at high speed until stiff peaks form. Use to top any of your latte homemade lattes, shakes, or desserts!
