Chocolate Chunk Biscuit Recipe
This easy chocolate chunk biscuit recipe takes less than 30 minutes to make, uses simple ingredients, and makes the perfect snack, side dish, breakfast, or dessert! These biscuits are perfectly flaky and buttery, with just the right amount of sweetness!

I get it, biscuits are a savory food, an easy flaky bread meant to be served alongside soups and stews. If they do have anything added, it’s usually cheese, spices, or jalapenos.
But chocolate, let’s just say it’s not something you usually find in a biscuit recipe. And I get that this recipe probably sounds a bit strange.
I know it did to me the first time I ever saw it. Chocolate chips are usually reserved for chewy chocolate chip cookies, cakes, and pancakes.

Maybe the occasional sweet bread recipe, but biscuits, most definitely not. Still, I can clearly remember the first time I saw a chocolate chip biscuit recipe, and the idea has been stuck in my head ever since.
I wasn’t exactly sure what I was going to do with these biscuits once they were made, but I knew I wanted to try making them! And that’s exactly what I did. Though, of course, I made a few changes to the original idea.

I swapped out the chocolate chips for chocolate chunks. Because chocolate chunks are the superior choice, and no one can change my mind about that. I also added a delicious secret ingredient that I can truly say makes all the difference in this recipe!
Cream cheese isn’t something you’d expect to find in this recipe, but I trust when I say don’t skip it! The combination of flaky, buttery biscuits, chocolate chunks, and cream cheese creates a delicious recipe that is not only perfect for serving alongside any of your favorite meals. But also makes a great snack, breakfast, or even dessert!

Chocolate Chunk Biscuit Recipe
Ingredients
dry ingredients
- all-purpose flour
- baking powder
- baking soda
- sea salt
wet ingredients
- cream cheese, cut into small pieces
- cold butter, cut into pieces. I used salt butter, but you can use salted or unsalted butter, whichever you like best!
- whole milk
- Semi-sweet chocolate chunks, you can also use milk chocolate or dark chocolate chunks
- melted butter, for brushing on the biscuits

Directions
Line a large baking/cookie sheet with parchment paper and set aside. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
In a large bowl, combine the dry ingredients(flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt) and stir to mix.
Add the cut butter and cream cheese, and mix with a fork or your hands until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Add the chocolate chunks to your biscuit mixture and toss to combine.
Finally, add the milk and stir. The dough should come together to form a ball, but keep in mind it will be a damp, shaggy dough.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and carefully roll the dough out to about a 1-inch thickness.
Then, using a 2-inch biscuit cutter, cut out your biscuits(I usually get 10-12) and place them on your prepared baking sheet.
Brush the cut biscuits with the melted butter and place them into your preheated oven. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until golden brown.
Remove the biscuits from the oven, and allow them to cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.
Enjoy!

Recipe Notes
Any leftover biscuits can be stored in an airtight container or wrapped tightly in plastic wrap and stored at room temperature for up to 3 days!
You can also use chocolate chips in this recipe. I prefer using chocolate chunks in my baked goods, especially this recipe, but chocolate chips work great too!
If you don’t have a biscuit cutter, you can use a wide-mouth canning jar ring or simply cut out circles with a knife.
Feel free to play around with this chocolate chunk biscuit recipe to make it your own, try using buttermilk in place of the whole milk, or adding a dash of cinnamon. You can also serve these biscuits with a cream cheese glaze or a dusting of powdered sugar.
