I’ve been obsessed with this festive latte this year! As a matter of fact I’ve been drinking it since early November! There is just something about its creamy texture and classic gingerbread flavor that I can’t get enough of.

The funny thing is I never had a gingerbread latte before learning how to make my own, of course, I’ve been making easy lattes at home for years. As well as recreating old favorites from my local coffee shops.

But for some reason or another I just never got around to trying this beloved holiday latte. I never even tried gingerbread coffee despite it being readily available at all the grocery stores in my area. So why exactly I decided to make this latte, I can’t really say.

All I know is that the idea got stuck in my head from somewhere and not only laid to the creation of this recipe but also to my homemade gingerbread syrup recipe! And despite never having tried one from anywhere else, I’m still pretty proud of how well this yummy gingerbread latte turned out!

This homemade gingerbread latte tastes exactly like a gingerbread cookie, it takes less than 5 minutes to make and is way better than anything you’ll get from a coffee shop, or so I’ve heard:) It’s perfect for Christmas morning and the holiday season. Though it can easily be enjoyed during the whole winter!

How To Make A Gingerbread Latte

Makes 1 large latte

Ingredients

  • whole milk. You can use any type of milk you like for this latte recipe. 1%, 2%, soy milk, oat milk, almond milk, and even coconut milk all work well!
  • heavy cream or half and half. OR more milk of choice
  • gingerbread syrup, homemade or store-bought
  • instant coffee + hot water OR strong brewed coffee OR fresh espresso shots
  • sweetener of choice, optional. I find the gingerbread syrup makes this latte sweet enough for me, but if you’d like yours a little sweeter, you can add more syrup. Or any of the following sweeteners. Brown sugar, maple syrup, white sugar, and even white chocolate!
  • whipped cream, for topping
  • mini gingerbread man, for topping

Directions

In a small saucepan combine the milk and heavy cream. Heat the mixture over medium heat, whisking often until it is hot, and small bubbles appear around the edges of the pan.

Add the gingerbread syrup and whisk to combine. Mix together the hot water and instant coffee,(or coffee/espresso of choice.) then pour your prepared hot coffee into the milk mixture, and whisk to combine.

Pour the finished latte into a large coffee mug, and top with whipped cream, and a mini gingerbread cookie.

Enjoy!

Recipe Notes

To make super easy homemade whipped cream, simply combine, 1 cup heavy cream, 2 tbsp powdered sugar, and 3 tsp vanilla extract in a large bowl. Beat using an electric mixer at high speed until stiff peaks form. Enjoy!

If you like you can also turn this recipe into an iced gingerbread latte! To make an iced latte, combine your hot coffee or espresso and the gingerbread syrup. Fill a tall glass(or mason jar) with ice, then pour the gingerbread coffee mixture over it. Fill any remaining space with milk, give it a quick stir, top with whipped cream, and enjoy!
