How to Make Feta and Basil Pizza

This recipe is written based on my sourdough pizza crust. Be sure to read the instructions on the pizza crust you are using, and be sure to use the recommended temperature for baking and the recommended cooking time!

Prepare your crust and allow it to rise. If you are using store-bought dough, be sure to take it out of the fridge and allow it to sit at room temperature for 10-15 minutes before preparing your pizza!

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.

Roll out your crust on a lightly floured surface with a rolling pin, until you have a 10-12 inch round, that is roughly 1/4 of an inch thick. Place your rolled pizza crust on a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Spoon on your pizza sauce of choice, then using the back of your spoon, spread it even over your crust. Here’s my recipe for quick and easy homemade garlic butter!

  • 4 tbsp salted butter
  • 3-5 garlic cloves minced
  • fresh or dry parsley  to taste

In a small saucepan melt the butter, once it is hot and bubbly add the garlic and parsley. Cook stirring continually until the garlic is soft and fragrant, about 3-5 minutes.

Add the tomatoes, if you are using them, followed by the fresh basil leaves, and carmazlied onions(see notes on how to make caramelized onions). Crumble the feta cheese over the top, doing your best to sprinkle it evenly over the whole pizza.

Sprinkle sea salt and freshly ground black pepper over the top, then place the pizza in your preheated oven.

Bake for 10-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and crispy, and the feta cheese is melted slightly. Allow the pizza to cool for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

Enjoy!

To make caramelized onions: Melt 2 tbsp of butter in a large skillet over medium heat, add 1 thinly sliced onion, and a generous sprinkle of salt. Saute the onions, stirring often, until the onions are translucent and slightly crisp!

Any leftover pizza can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days!

You can also use a pizza stone to make this recipe if you have one!
