Food is something to be passionate about, something to enjoy. It is more than just what we eat. It’s about how we eat, and how we cook, food is more than just food, it’s life. It’s living for the love of food.

”[Humans] don’t just survive; they discover; they create. … I mean, just look at what they do with food!” – Ratatouille 2007 film
I get asked a lot, okay maybe not asked. But based on the facial expression and confused nods I get. I have a fairly strong feeling that people wonder about me, a lot.
Wonder the same thing about me, which is why? Why do I love food so much? I know I talked about this before, probably a little too much. Talked about why I love cooking, making things from scratch, eating, and why I think the things I do when it comes to food.
But today I thought I’d try to answer the question everyone who ever met me has wondered at least once. I could write a list. I probably already have one somewhere about all the reasons I love food and all the reasons other people should too. But the more I’ve thought about it, the more time has gone on and my life has changed. I feel like I have a much better understanding of why I love food so much.

Why do I love food?
I truly believe food is a gift from God. Not only did He proved us with rich bounties of food. He also gave us the knowledge and know-how to cook food, to create wonderful, amazing things, beautiful things. I feel most people probably laugh when I tell them I live my life through food. But it’s true, it’s so very true.
The kitchen is called the heart of the home for a reason. And man has it been the heart of mine ever since I can remember. So much time has been spent in the kitchen, whether cooking, helping someone prep a dish, or chatting with someone while they cook. Or just sitting at the kitchen table with a cup of coffee watching the sunrise.
Many of my best and dare I say my favorite memories involve food. so many of the things that my family does every year, the things that make us a family, and our traditions involve food. Every place every country, and every scene. Seems to be set by food. The food we eat and the stories it tells.
I spend much of my time cooking, flipping through cookbooks, and listening to people talk about the things they make or what they ate during their last trip. Even long before I started blogging, starting making a fool of myself by talking about how much I love it. Food was special to me, but at the end of the day I knew and I know it isn’t really the food, no it’s what food represents, what it expresses. It is always there for us, it’s comforting, it motivating, it’s fun, it’s terrifying, it’s amazing.

Food is something that is always there
No matter where you go, no matter what happens, or how bad of a day you’ve had. And I can’t think of any better moments than those that took place, in the garden, on a farm picking fruit. In the kitchen, at the stove, around the table, with a cup of coffee, or over a slice of pie.
I believe that God made each person unique, their own being living their own life unlike any other life that has been lived before or ever will be. I believe everyone has a story to tell, an adventure to live out.
But one of my favorite parts of getting to be alive is getting to see how each and every person lives their life differently. In a sense, we are different people doing the same thing. But each person has their own little thing, their own way of doing things. And I feel we are telling a story, the story of who we are, what we do, what we believe in, and what we stand for. And we are each telling that story, our story through the things that we do, and the way we live out our lives.

So yes I do live my life through food, and that is one of, and very likely my biggest reason for loving food so dang so much. Because food is how I live my life, it’s how I tell my story. It allows me to tell who I am and what I do, all while doing the one thing I love the most in life. Cooking, eating, creating, imagining, and loving food.
Sorry for this very long and half-poetical rant about loving food. But sometimes you just got to say things no matter how ridiculous they sound.
If you made it thing far congratulations! And please stick around for more useful foodstuff that is to come and that can be found on this blog.
