Usually, I’m a pretty boring person when it comes to my coffee, most days I take my coffee, strong, hot, and with a splash of half & half or heavy cream.

I don’t often go out for coffee, I drink iced coffee rarely, and if I’m being completely honest I don’t make lattes at home very often either. At least not most of the year.

Fall though is a different story, as soon as the air starts to turn chilly I find myself craving all the fall flavors, and during the Autumn months, I can often be found in the kitchen on any given afternoon whipping up whatever homemade latte happens to be on my mind.

This caramel apple latte is currently my favorite coffee drink, not only does it perfectly capture the flavors of my favorite season. But it’s also super easy to make, it’s perfect hot or iced, and great for any time of the day

How to Make A Caramel Apple Latte

If you happen to own an espresso machine by all means feel free to use it for this recipe! If you don’t though, you can use strong brewed coffee instead or follow my heck below to create easy ‘instant’ espresso!

Yield: 1 large latte

Ingredients

  • whole milk, or milk of choice. Any dairy or non-dairy milk will work great for this recipe!
  • heavy cream, or more milk
  • apple syrup, homemade or store-bought
  • caramel sauce or caramel syrup
  • instant coffee + hot water. OR 1/4 cup of strong hot coffee OR 2 shots of hot espresso
  • whipped cream + ground cinnamon for serving, optional

Directions

Place the milk and heavy cream in a small saucepan, and heat over medium-low heat. Add the caramel sauce and apple syrup and whisk to combine.

Continue to cook the mixture whisking often until the milk is hot and small bubbles appear around the edge of the pan. Remove the pan from the heat, then prepare your coffee/espresso.

Combine the instant coffee and hot water in a mug and stir until the coffee is completely dissolved. Be sure to use very hot water to help ensure your finished latte stays hot.

Pour the hot caramel apple milk mixture into the coffee, and stir to combine.

Top with whipped cream and cinnamon if desired.  Enjoy!

If you like you can also make this recipe as an iced latte! To do so prepare your coffee/espresso, then add the caramel sauce and apple syrup to the hot coffee and stir until the caramel is melted.

Fill a large glass to the top with ice, and pour the coffee mixture over the top. Fill the remaining space with milk, and give it a quick stir. Top with whipped cream and ground cinnamon if desired and enjoy!

Recipe Notes

I love to use my homemade apple syrup for this recipe, but you can also buy apple syrup, such as this ONE online or at your local grocery store!

I usually don’t add any toppings to this recipe, simply because I’m not a huge fan of toppings on my coffee! But you can easily add any of your favorite latte toppings,  whipped cream, ground cinnamon, and a caramel drizzle are all delicious.

To make super easy homemade whipped cream. Combine 1 cup heavy cream, 2 tbsps powdered sugar, and 3 tsp vanilla extract in a large bowl. Beat using an electric mixer at high speed until stiff peaks form. Enjoy!
