Shots aren’t really my thing, I’d much rather have a cocktail or a rum and coke, or even skip drinking altogether.
That being said however I have done my fair share of shots over the years, and there are no drinks I have more fun making than homemade shots. Jello shots, layered shots, and refreshing shooters.
I don’t know what it is, but there is just something fun about getting to create beautiful layers, using bright new colors, or finding ways to turn your favorite dessert into an adult beverage. All in the form of a mini cocktail, more commonly known as a shot.
These Bailey’s Irish cream pudding shots are not only creamy and delicious, but they are also super easy and so much fun to make!
They can served as drinks or as a fun mini dessert! They are perfect for St. Patrick’s Day, Christmas, New Year’s, and more!
I decided to keep the alcohol content pretty low for these shots, to help ensure you can enjoy more than a few without having to worry! But as always I have included a non-alcoholic version to ensure that everyone, including the kids, can enjoy this fun and simple recipe!
How to Make Irish Cream Pudding Shots
Equipment
- a bowl or large measuring cup with a pour spout
- plastic shot glasses Or 1-oz plastic containers with lids
Ingredients
- Baileys Irish Cream liqueur
- instant pudding, chocolate, or vanilla
- whole milk
- whipped cream, optional. I like you use homemade whipped cream(see notes for the recipe) but you can also spray whipped cream or Cool Whip.
- chocolate shavings or chocolate syrup to garnish, optional.
Directions
One box of pudding will yield roughly 30 shots.
Set your shot glasses or plastic containers out on a serving tray or rimmed baking sheet.
If you’re making homemade whipped cream, make it now and place it in the fridge until ready to use.
In a large bowl whisk together the instant pudding and milk, add the Irish cream, and whisk to combine. Allow the mixture to sit just until it starts to thicken(you still want it to be thin enough to pour) If you feel the mixture is a little too thick, add an additional 1/2 cup of milk, and whisk to combine.
Pour the pudding mixture into your shot glasses filling them roughly 2/3 of the way up. Spoon a dollop of whipped cream onto each shot, sprinkle on a few chocolate shavings, and serve immediately.
Enjoy!
Recipe Notes
To make my super easy homemade whipped cream, simply combine, 1 cup heavy cream, 2 tbsps powdered sugar, and 3 tsp vanilla extract in a large bowl. Beat using an electric mixer at high speed until stiff peaks form. Enjoy!
Personally, I find these shots are best served and enjoyed as soon as they are ready. But you can store them in the fridge if needed for up to 48 hours.
If you know you are going to be storing these shots, I would recommend making them in plastic containers with lids. The covers will help to keep the pudding and the whipped fresh and stop the shots from drying out.
This easy recipe can also be made using different flavors of liqueur and different kinds of alcohol as well. Some favorites include Irish whiskey, coffee liqueur, butterscotch schnapps, creme de menthe, orange liqueur, vanilla vodka, and peppermint schnapps!
You should be able to find Baileys Irish cream at your local grocery store or liquor store, but if you are having trouble finding some, it can also be ordered online!
