Yogurt has long been considered a quick and easy breakfast in our house just as much as in the next. Yogurt is just easy, it doesn’t take much time to eat, it’s easy to store, and can served pretty much at any time.

It makes the perfect quick breakfast, or afternoon snack(especially a good after school snack) it even makes a good dessert or midnight snack!

Needless to it’s no wonder that yogurt is often found on most families’ breakfast menus, and our family is no exception. However, as with most things in life I can’t help but put my own spin on things.

We started making our own homemade granola and yogurt cups years ago, we were looking for some more healthy breakfast options, and needless to say, yogurt cups from the grocery store aren’t exactly healthy.

And as it turns out homemade yogurt cups couldn’t be easier to make! I love making my homemade meal prep yogurt cups.

But as the weather started to turn chilly this year, I got to thinking…What if I made an autumn version of these quick and easy make-ahead yogurt cups? I didn’t waste any time putting this recipe together, and I hope you enjoy this fun new seasonal twist on this anything but new breakfast food just as much as I do!

How to make homemade autumn yogurt cups

Equipment

  • pint-sized mason jars. You can also use a wide mouth mason jar, a plastic container, a stainless steel container, or any other airtight container just be sure that they are single-serving containers.

Ingredients

  • vanilla yogurt, You can also use any of the following, plain yogurt, plain Greek yogurt, vanilla Greek yogurt, or coconut milk yogurt. Or any other type of yogurt you like
  • Apple Butter
  • Pumpkin Puree
  • Pear Sauce
  • Apple Sauce
  • Maple Syrup
  • Granola, I like to use my homemade Honey Cinnamon Granola, but you can use any kind you like!

Divide the yogurt into six jars. You’ll have roughly 2/3 cup or 5 oz per jar, more or less depending on the amount and thickness of the yogurt. You can find the jars I used HERE.

Carefully scoop about 2-3 tbsp of the topping of choice into one of the jars, and gently spread it out over the top of the yogurt. For example, it should be yogurt, then a layer of pumpkin, maple syrup, then a layer of granola.

Add the maple syrup to taste. I add roughly 1 tbsp to each jar.

At this point, you can either cover your jars with a lid and ring and place them in the fridge until ready to eat. OR you can top it with granola and serve immediately. I like to mine on Sunday night and put them in the fridge, that way I have quick and easy breakfasts all week long!

Enjoy!

Notes

If you are meal-prepping with these yogurt cups, be sure not to put the granola on until you are actually ready to eat them. If you add the granola and then keep it in the fridge, you will have very soggy granola!

These homemade yogurt cups will last in the fridge for up to 1 week.

If you don’t have maple syrup, you can also use honey, or sugar to sweeten your yogurt cups. You can also skip the sweetener altogether if you like!
