This homemade brownie recipe is the best accident to ever happen in my kitchen—or actually, at my job. When I was working part-time at a local café, one of my many tasks was baking, specifically muffins.

Every Friday, I’d whip up something new and tasty for us to sell over the weekend. That’s where I created my lemon poppy seed muffin recipe, as well as my pumpkin cream cheese muffin recipe.

And it’s also where I happened to accidentally create the best brownie recipe I’ve ever made in my life!

I think this recipe was supposed to be for dark chocolate muffins or something similar, but I got distracted while making them and forgot a key ingredient. In other words, they didn’t rise at all. But they still smelled amazing, so I decided to try one anyway.

Needless to say, I was shocked. I hadn’t made a muffin—or anything close to a muffin, to be honest. Rather, what I bit into that day just so happened to be a rich, sweet, gooey dark chocolate brownie.

This recipe was a completely accidental creation, but it has held true so far and to this day is still the best brownies I’ve ever made.

My family, my coworkers, and everyone who has managed to shang one of these dark chocolate fudgy brownies has loved them.

They are sure to hit everywhere they go. Plus, it doesn’t get much simpler—or tastier—than this easy brownie recipe!

How To Make Fudgy Dark Chocolate Brownies

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Line an 8×8 glass baking dish with parchment paper and set aside until ready to use.

In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and chopped chocolate, whisking often. Heat until the butter and the chocolate are completely melted and the mixture is smooth and shiny. Set aside until ready to use.

In a medium bowl, combine the dry ingredients(cocoa powder, flour, and salt). Whisk to combine and set aside.

In a large bowl, beat together the wet ingredients (the sugar, vanilla extract, and eggs) until it is well mixed and pale yellow in color.

Pour the melted chocolate mixture into the sugar mixture and stir with a rubber spatula or wooden spoon until completely combined.

Add the flour mixture 1/3 at a time, mixing well between each addition. Then scrape down the sides of the bowl and mix again.

Add your chocolate chunks and fold to combine.

Spoon your finished brownie batter into your prepared pan and place it in the oven.

Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the brownie comes out clean.

Allow the brownies to cool for 15-20 minutes before cutting.

For gooey brownies, cut and serve your brownies while they are still warm. If you are planning on frosting your brownies or topping them with powdered sugar, allow them to cool to room temperature before cutting.

Cut into 16 squares and serve, on their own, topped with frosting or powdered sugar, or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Enjoy!
