How To Make Gingerbread Simple Syrup
Ingredients
- water
- brown sugar, both light brown sugar, and dark brown sugar work well for this recipe
- molasses
- ground ginger
- ground cinnamon
- allspice
- ground nutmeg
- vanilla extract
Directions
In a small saucepan, combine the brown sugar and ground spices, and whisk to combine.
Add the water and vanilla extract and whisk to combine. Place your saucepan on the stove and turn your lid up to medium heat, bring the mixture to a simmer, whisking constantly, and continue to simmer until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Once the sugar is dissolved remove your pan from the heat, and allow the syrup to cool briefly.
Pour your gingerbread syrup through a fine mesh strainer into a clean glass jar(I used two small mason jars for mine.) This helps remove any larger bits of the ground spices, but you can skip this step if you like.
Allow your finished syrup to cool uncovered until it reaches room temperature. Once the syrup is cooled cover tightly and place in the fridge until ready to use.
Use for any of your favorite gingerbread coffee drinks, hot chocolates, and cocktails.
Enjoy!
