Twist Milkshake Recipe (vanilla & chocolate shake)
This delicious twist milkshake calls for just 4 simple ingredients, takes little to no time to make, and tastes exactly like a twist ice cream cone! This easy milkshake recipe is perfect for any hot summer day, party, or the 4th of July, and it’s sure to hit with everyone regardless of their age!

Call me basic, but when it comes to sweets, I tend to go for the classics. This is especially true when it comes to ice cream. And if we happen to be going anywhere that serves soft serve, I know exactly what I’m getting long before we arrive.
For me, twist ice cream(or soft serve) has been a staple of summer for as long as I can remember. It’s something that always tastes amazing, is so simple, yet so delicious.
In my opinion, twist ice cream is just as old-fashioned, delicious, and classically American as a hamburger or apple pie, which is probably why I decided to shoot this recipe with a 4th of July twist(no pun intended).

I can’t think of a more classic summer treat than a good twist ice cream cone, and though I’m sure people would beg to differ with that, you can’t argue that it is a delicious classic summer treat.
There is one big problem with them, though. You can’t make them at home. What’s a girl to do? Well, in my case, settle for the next best thing.

I might not be able to make soft serve at home, but I can make a thick, creamy, delicious soft-serve like milkshake, and after years of making milkshakes in a variety of different flavors. It finally dawned on me that I could make a twist milkshake too!
I might not have gotten the perfect twist shape or perfectly divided chocolate and vanilla halves, but I’m happy to say this easy milkshake tastes exactly like a twist ice cream cone, and is perfect for any summer gathering or just because!

How To Make A Twist Milkshake
Equitment
- An upright blender
- a glass for serving
Ingredients
- vanilla ice cream, softened slightly
- chocolate ice cream, softened slightly
- whole milk
- whipped cream(see the recipe notes for my easy homemade whipped cream recipe!), plus extra for topping. I like to use homemade whipped cream, but you can also use whipped cream from a spray can or Cool Whip.
- Sprinkles for topping, optional. I used my favorite 4th of July sprinkles, but you can use any sprinkles you like!

Directions
In your upright blender, combine the vanilla ice cream, half of the whipped cream, and a splash of milk. Blend on high until smooth and creamy, adding more milk as needed. Pour the finished vanilla shake into a cup and pop it into the fridge or freezer while you prepare the chocolate shake.
Rinse out your blender, then combine the chocolate ice cream, remaining whipped cream, and a splash of milk. Blend on high until smooth and creamy, adding more milk as needed. Pour your finished chocolate shake into a cup.
Set your serving cup/glass of choice on the counter and combine your two prepared shakes. This can be done by carefully pouring both shakes into the glass at the same time, or pouring part of the vanilla shake into the cup, followed by part of the chocolate shake, and repeating until both shakes are gone.
Top your finished twist shake with whipped cream and sprinkles, if using.
Serve immediately and enjoy!

Recipe Notes
Feel free to play around with this recipe. I like to stick to the classic twist flavors. But this twist shake can be made with any of your favorite ice creams! You can also top with any favorite ice cream toppings, fresh strawberries, peanut butter, and crumbled chocolate chip cookies are all delicious!
