Equipment

  • A sturdy box for packing your cookies.
  • Parchment paper for lining the bottom of your box optional

Ingredients

Any of the following cookies and sweet treats would also make a great addition to your cookie boxes:

  • Sugar cookies
  • Ginger chai sandwich cookies
  • Homemade thin mints
  • Gingerbread cookies
  • Candy Canes
  • Chocolate chips
  • Wrapped candies or chocolate KISSES
  • ribbon candy
  • old-fashioned Christmas hard candy

Instructions

  • Once your cookies have been baked, cooled, and/or decorated, line your box of choice with parchment paper (you could also use wax paper).
  • Next, carefully arrange your cookies of choice in the box. I like to include 4–5 of each kind of cookie I use.
  • Add any additional treats and goodies, then cover your box. The boxes I used come with a plastic cover, but cookie boxes can also be covered with plastic wrap or foil.
  • Add a bow or tie a ribbon around your box for a festive twist, and enjoy!

Notes

I love using a variety of holiday cookies when I make a cookie gift box, but there are a few things to keep in mind when choosing recipes for your cookie boxes. I find that sturdy cookies tend to work best, especially if you’ll be traveling with them. On the same note, be sure to pick recipes that don’t need to be refrigerated and won’t melt in the car if you have the heat on while traveling.
If you don’t have any boxes on hand—or are looking for an easier way to bring these on the go—you can also make homemade cookie boxes in airtight containers. This is especially helpful if you’ll be traveling a long distance or if you’d like to make larger versions of these boxes for parties, potlucks, and more!
You can also use tissue paper to line your boxes if you like.
