Rum Sunrise Cocktail
- 2 oz coconut rum I love to use Malibu coconut rum, but you can use any kind of coconut rum, light rum, or white rum. I enjoy the coconut flavor, but this cocktail is just as delicious with plain rum. Just be sure to use a light rum, dark rum and aged rum will NOT work!
- 4 oz orange juice
- 1 splash grenadine syrup
- lemon-lime soda you can also use club soda
- ice cubes
Sunrise Mocktail
- 2 oz coconut water this is completely optional, but is a great way to add some extra flavor to this mocktail version!
- 4 oz orange juice
- 1 splash grenadine syrup
- lemon-lime soda you can also use club soda
- ice cubes
to make a rum sunrise
Fill a cocktail glass of choice with ice cubes.
Add the coconut rum and orange juice, to your glass of ice, then fill the remaining space in the glass with soda. (if you are using a very large glass, I would recommend only filling it to the half point to avoid watering down your cocktail!)
Add a splash of grenadine to your cocktail, and allow it to sink to the bottom of the glass, this creates a the sunrise effect! Garnish with an orange slice stuck on the rim of the glass, and a maraschino cherry floated on top of the drink.
Enjoy!
to make a sunrise mocktail
Fill a glass of choice with ice cubes.
Add the orange juice, and coconut water if using, to your glass of ice. Then fill the remaining space in the glass with soda. (if you are using a very large glass, I would recommend only filling it to the half point to avoid watering down the flavor too much!)
Add a splash of grenadine to your mocktail, and allow it to sink to the bottom of the glass, this creates the sunrise effect! Garnish with an orange slice stuck on the rim of the glass, and a maraschino cherry floated on top of the drink.
Enjoy!
