I’m a big believer in spices and seasoning, good flavor and good seasoning can turn even the simplest of meals into showstoppers! And I highly recommend that everyone who loves to cook keep a large stash of spices and seasoning blends in their cupboard!
I’m also a big believer in making things at home, and while it is easy and fairly cheap to buy any seasoning blend you can imagine at any of your local grocery stores. And there is nothing wrong with buying store-bought seasoning blends.
But personally, I’ve found that seasoning and spice blends are far more flavorful when you make them at home. Plus you likely have all of the ingredients on hand already, so why bother paying for them all mixed together, or making an extra trip to the store?
Not to mention homemade seasoning blends can easily be adapted to fit your cooking needs, you can easily make as much or as little as you want. This means you won’t have to worry about having a perfectly good spice blend going to waste in your cupboard because you simply don’t use it!
Needless to say my love of making things at home and the fact I hate to spend money when I know I already have the ingredients on hand.
This has led me to start making a lot of our spice and seasoning blends at home. From homemade taco seasoning, pumpkin pie spice, and cajun seasoning, to ranch reasoning, and of course this easy blackening seasoning blend!
This blackening seasoning recipe is fast and easy. And it can be used to make any of your favorite blackened meats, vegetables, and seafood!

This blackening seasoning can be used for any of your favorite blackened recipes. Such as blackened chicken or salmon, I love to make blackened shrimp! But blackening seasoning can be used in various dishes, such as fish tacos, chicken alfredo, and dirty rice! It can also be used for seasoning different meats and seafood, such as mahi mahi, steak, and more!
I like my homemade blackened seasoning to have a good spicy kick. But if you are sensitive to spice, feel free to reduce the amount of cayenne pepper and adjust the recipe to a spice level that works for you!
