Homemade Garlic Parmesan French Fries
Ingreidents
- French fries of choice. See notes for different kinds of premade fries to use, plus my favorite kinds of potatoes for homemade fries.
- Minced fresh garlic. You can also use garlic powder, but minced garlic will give you a better flavor.
- Shredded parmesan cheese
- Fresh parsley or dried parsley. Optional, but I like to add a little color!
- Butter, I like to use salted butter, but unsalted works great too.
- sea salt

How To Make Garlic Parmesan French Fries
Note. If you are making homemade fries, be sure to peel and chop your potatoes ahead of time. I would also recommend soaking them in a bowl of cold water 30 minutes to 1 hour before starting on the rest of the recipe. Also be sure to drain soaked fries well, and pat dry with paper towels before cooking.
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F. Or if you are using frozen French fries, preheat to the recommended temperature on the package instructions.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside until ready to use.
In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt your butter. Once the butter is hot and bubbly, add your minced garlic and cook, stirring often, just until the garlic is fragrant and slightly softened. Remove from the heat and set aside.
Place your prepped fries(homemade or store-bought) in a large bowl, add the parmesan cheese and parsley if using, and toss to combine.
Drizzle your garlic butter over the fries and toss until everything is well coated in the butter.
Spread your French fry mixture over your prepared baking sheet; be sure to keep the fries in a single layer for the best results and crispiness. No one likes soggy fries!
Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the fries are golden brown and crispy and the cheese is melted. I like to bake my fries until the cheese has started to crisp up as well, but that is totally up to you!
Note that different kinds of fries may take a longer or shorter amount of time to cook; the time listed above is an estimate based on the kind of fries I used.
Also, if you are making homemade French fries, you may want to deep fry them or cook them in the air fryer first, then add the cheese and garlic, and finally bake, for the best level of crispiness!
Remove the fries from the oven and allow them to cool momentarily before serving.
Enjoy!

Recipe Notes
Any leftover garlic parmesan fries can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Leftover fries can easily be reheated in the oven; just keep in mind reheated fries are often less crispy and flavorful than fresh ones.
If you are going to be making your own homemade fries for this recipe, you can use pretty much any kind of potato you like. Russet potatoes will make the best homemade fries, but you can also use Yukon Golds or red potatoes. This recipe is also delicious when made with sweet potatoes.
If you are using premade frozen fries or wondering what the best French fry cut is for this recipe, well, the sky is the limit! Shoestring fries (which are my personal favorite!), crinkle-cut fries, steak fries, and waffle fries are all great options!
You can also use garlic oil or even truffle oil for this recipe! Garlic parmesan truffle fries are sure to be a showstopper and are a great way to make French fries fancy enough for any occasion!
