Like most people, I grew up obsessed with ranching dressing and anything ranch-flavored. For a time I was convinced anything would taste better with ranch, which led to a few questionable decisions as a small child, FYI popsicles don’t taste good dipped in ranch dressing.

I used to put ranch dressing on just about everything, salads, pizza, hamburgers, I dipped veggies, chips, and pretzels into it. I loved anything I would find that was ranch flavored, crackers, chips, popcorn, you name it, if it had ranch in the title I knew it was always guaranteed to be a new favorite.

These days I don’t eat ranch dressing half as much as I used to, but I’m still a big fan of the flavor, and I have a hard time turning down the chance to eat anything ranch-flavored!

But since I like the flavor more than the dressing these days, it’s no surprise I found myself reaching for a store-bought packet of ranch seasoning mix, hidden valley ranch packets are super easy to grab and they taste great, I’m not gonna lie.

But I couldn’t get past the ingredients, and artificial flavors, and to be completely honest I’m not a huge fan of buttermilk ranch. So I set out to do what any home cook would do and spent a good year playing about with different homemade seasoning mixes.

How to make your own homemade ranch seasoning mix

Ingredients

Directions

I used dried herbs for this recipe, but you can 100% use fresh herbs! I also like to use organic spices for this recipe, as I find them to be the most flavorful!

In a small bowl, combine all the ingredients, and mix well. If you want to create a finely powdered seasoning mix, place all the ingredients in a food processor and pulse until it reaches your desired texture.

Place your finished ranch seasoning mix, in an airtight container or an airtight jar. I like to store mine in a mason jar or a glass spice jar.

Store your seasoning mix in a cool dry place, or a spice cabinet.
