- 1 pizza crust I like to use my homemade pizza dough for this recipe. But you can also use store-bought pizza dough or sourdough pizza dough.
- 1/2 lb. ground beef
- sea salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- onion powder to taste
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup dill pickle slices
- 1 red onion diced
- 1 large tomato diced
for the sauce
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tbsp yellow mustard
- 1-2 tbsp pickle juice
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown your ground beef. Season with salt, pepper, and onion powder, and cook until the beef is completely cooked through. Drain off any excess grease and set aside until use.
Preheat your oven to 450 degrees F.
Roll out your pizza crust on a lightly floured surface, then transfer your crust to a parchment paper-lined baking sheet(you can also make this pizza in a pizza pan or on a pizza stone) and set aside until ready to top. In a small bowl, combine the sauce ingredients, taste, and adjust if needed.
Then pour all of the sauce onto your prepared pizza crust, and spread it around using the back of a spoon, leaving roughly a 1/4 inch gap around the edge of the crust.
Top your pizza with the ground beef mixture, diced onion, and diced tomato, followed by the dill pickle slices and finally, the shredded cheese. Doing your best to keep everything evenly spread out over the whole pizza.
Place the pizza into the preheated oven, and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the crust is golden brown. Remove from the oven and allow the pizza to cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Enjoy!
The oven temperature and bake time in this recipe are based on my regular pizza crust recipe. You may need to adjust one or both, depending on what pizza dough/crust you use.
Any leftover pizza can be stored in an airtight container or wrapped tightly in plastic wrap and stored in the fridge for up to 5 days.
