Cheeseburgers have been a staple of American living for pretty much as long as anyone can remember. And no matter how healthy I eat, or how much I love cooking from scratch,  there are few things I love more than a good old-fashioned takeout cheeseburger.

But before we get into why cheeseburgers are so beloved, and where to get the best cheeseburger(it’s Five Guys for me), I think it’s only fair to say that this pizza recipe actually has nothing to do with cheeseburgers, and everything to do with pizza.

This easy cheeseburger pizza recipe is actually a copycat recipe of one of the best pizzas I’ve ever eaten. Most of the time, I’m not a fan of cheeseburger pizzas, and I especially don’t like bacon cheeseburger pizzas, which seem to be the most popular.

But when our favorite take-and-bake pizza place released a classic cheeseburger pizza, I instantly fell in love. The only trouble with their pizza was that they stopped selling it. I’ve been waiting years for them to bring it take, all the while craving and dreaming about this delicious cheeseburger pizza.

Last month, though, I decided the wait was over; if I wasn’t going to be able to buy my favorite pizza, then I was going to figure out how to make it at home.

And that’s exactly what I did. I can’t say this recipe tastes just as good as the stuff we used to buy, it’s been forever since I’ve had it. But I have a sneaking suspicion this homemade version probably tastes even better.

All I can say for sure is that I love this pizza, it’s easy to make, flavorful, and tastes exactly like a cheeseburger, just in pizza form.

Directions

In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown your ground beef. Season with salt, pepper, and onion powder, and cook until the beef is completely cooked through. Drain off any excess grease and set aside until use.

Preheat your oven to 450 degrees F.

Roll out your pizza crust on a lightly floured surface, then transfer your crust to a parchment paper-lined baking sheet(you can also make this pizza in a pizza pan or on a pizza stone). And set aside until ready to top.

In a small bowl, combine the sauce ingredients, taste, and adjust if needed.

Then pour all of the sauce onto your prepared pizza crust, and spread it around using the back of a spoon, leaving roughly a 1/4 inch gap around the edge of the crust

Top your pizza with the ground beef mixture, diced onion, and diced tomato, followed by the dill pickle slices and finally, the shredded cheese. Doing your best to keep everything evenly spread out over the whole pizza.

Place the pizza into the preheated oven, and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the crust is golden brown. Remove from the oven and allow the pizza to cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Enjoy!

Recipe Notes

The oven temperature and bake time in this recipe are based on my regular pizza crust recipe. You may need to adjust one or both, depending on what pizza dough/crust you use.

Any leftover pizza can be stored in an airtight container or wrapped tightly in plastic wrap and stored in the fridge for up to 5 days!

I like to crisp up the melted cheese on my pizzas before serving them. To do this, switch your oven to broil once the pizza is finished cooking and broil for 1-2 minutes or until the cheese is golden brown.

I like to serve this pizza as is, but it’s also great topped with iceberg lettuce and a sprinkle of sesame seeds! You can also serve it with a side of hot sauce, barbecue sauce, ranch dressing, or your favorite burger sauce!
