This homemade poppy seed dressing is super easy to make, calls for just 8 simple ingredients, and can be whipped up in no time! This homemade dressing is sweet and tangy with just the right amount of poppy seeds, and is perfect for topping your favorite salad!

I love making homemade salad dressings! Not only do they taste way better than store-bought salad dressings, which all are full of added sugars and preservatives.

But homemade salad dressing is also super easy to make, they usually call for only basic simple ingredients you likely have on hand already. And can easily be made in less than 5 minutes!

This creamy poppy seed dressing is my favorite summer salad dressing, it’s light, creamy, tangy, and perfect for topping any vegetable salad. I love making this poppy seed salad dressing to top my strawberry spinach salad. But it’s great on any salad recipe!

This poppyseed salad dressing pairs wonderfully with spinach and other fresh greens, fresh fruit, red onions, white onions, sunflower seeds, and grilled chicken! Plus this recipe couldn’t be easier to make and is sure to add a sweet and tangy burst of flavor to any salad recipe.

How to make Creamy Poppy Seed Salad Dressing

Ingredients​

  • olive oil, you can also use canola oil, vegetable oil, grapeseed oil, or avocado oil
  • ​plain Greek yogurt, or sour cream
  • real mayo, homemade or store-bought
  • lemon juice
  • apple cider vinegar, if you are in a pinch you can sub white vinegar or white wine vinegar 
  • raw honey 
  • poppyseeds 
  • sea salt
  • freshly ground black pepper

Directions

Combine all the ingredients in a small bowl, and whisk to combine.

Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed.

Poppyseed dressing can be served immediately or transferred to an airtight container or mason jar and placed in the fridge until ready to use.

Homemade Poppy Seed Dressing can be stored in the fridge for up to 5 days!

Poppyseeds can easily be ordered online. But you should also be able to find them in the spice section of your local grocery store!

If you aren’t a fan of sweeter salad dressings, you might want to start with a 1/2 tbsp of honey and only add more if you feel it needs it. To make the dressing easy to mix, you can always melt your honey to make it more runny before adding it to the dressing!

Maple syrup, agave nectar, or cane sugar, can easily be used in place of the honey!
